As a fifteen year employee of the City Oak Creek, Barb Dailey has seen quite a bit of change at city hall in her role as an account clerk, working on timecards, processing accounts payable, and even handling weed complaints. Through it all, she has seen the finance department she works in grow from typical day to day operations, to significant projects such as Drexel Town Square and the Oakview Business Park.
Barb understands the change and the demands of a growing city, and welcomes the opportunity to help make things go smoothly. "My work philosophy has always been to give 110%, I take pride in what I do, and I take the time to do it right and pay attention to the details," she said. Barb has worked for several finance directors during her tenure, and is confident that new financial software that the city has adopted will streamline our current processes, reducing the need for time-consuming manual work. This is part of a larger city initiative to update policies and procedures across all of our city departments.
Married to former Oak Creek police officer Jim Dailey, who is currently an instructor at MATC-Oak Creek, Barb and Jim celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year. Their son, AJ, is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She loves the interaction with the residents, especially during tax time, with people often stopping in the finance department to say hello.
"I like working for the City of Oak Creek. In my time here it has never been dull, and with so many changes coming and our move to our new city hall next year," Barb noted, "I'm looking forward to the new dynamics of our city, and what that will bring."
Barb and Jim are active in the M.A. Dailey Foundation, created by her husband, which helps inner city children learn how to fish, hosting an annual fishing derby at their house. In her leisure time, she gardens and makes her own cards. She also enjoys traveling, having taken trips to Italy and Alaska.« Return to Meet Our Staff
