Message from the Mayor:
County Board Chairwoman Marina Dimitrijevic holds her monthly “Chat with the Chair” meeting tonight at Oak Creek City Hall beginning at 6pm. (Monday, August 27th). This is a great chance for local residents to ask their Milwaukee County government officials questions related to county roads, Bender Park, or any other Milwaukee County issues or concerns. Our own County Supervisor, Steve Taylor, will also be in attendance. Join us for a discussion on how Milwaukee County can meet the needs of Oak Creek residents.
I want to thank the Oak Creek Franklin School District and Superintendent Sara Burmeister for facilitating the use of Oak Creek High School for several events related to the tragedy on August 5th. Dr. Burmeister and her staff spent many hours getting the building ready for very large crowds, and many residents commented to me how wonderful the facility looked. Their willingness to step up for our community, and for the members of our local Sikh Temple, were appreciated by all of us at City Hall, and are a great example of the tremendous relationship between the School District and the City of Oak Creek.
Residents have asked many questions as I’ve seen them around the city in the past few weeks…Here is a sampling of those questions and my responses...
What’s going on with the Delphi Site?
Removal of concrete should begin this fall, and any cleanup/re-grading of the site will occur shortly after that. The city is working with WisPark to finalize the site plan for the 85 acres at Drexel Town Square, and are in the early stages of reaching out to developers and businesses who are interested in locating there.
When will the Drexel Interchange be open?
The new interchange at Drexel Avenue should be open in November. Current plans are for the bridge girders to be installed in the next two weeks, with roadways improvements continuing through the fall.
Can you hold “Meet the Mayor” meetings at Oak Creek businesses?
I’m happy to come out on a Saturday morning to any Oak Creek business to meet residents-and customers. I recently helped our local Piggly Wiggly store celebrate their store’s anniversary. If you would like to schedule a date, just call me at 414.335.6330, or e-mail at sscaffidi@oakcreekwi.org.
This is the last week of our unofficial summer in Wisconsin…enjoy the terrific weather while it lasts...
