Mayor Scaffidi
Steve Scaffidi
Mayor
City of Oak Creek

Message from the Mayor:
This past week I attended swearing-In ceremonies for a police officer beginning his career with the Oak Creek Police Department, and an acting Fire Chief officially taking over the top spot at the Oak Creek Fire Department.

On Tuesday, May 29th, Anthony McQuestion joined our Police Department as a new police officer and began a summer-long training process where he’ll learn the procedures of the department, and the best practices needed for his role as a public safety officer in Oak Creek. Good luck in your new position Anthony, and welcome to the City of Oak Creek!

After 33 years on the Oak Creek Fire Department, Thomas Rosandich was sworn in on Thursday, May 31st as the 10th Fire chief in our city’s history. Tom served in an acting role for the past year, and has held numerous positions within the department. Many local Fire chiefs attended the ceremony, as well as Tom’s family and friends. Tom’s experience, and commitment to the department, puts our city in good hands.

On Tuesday, May 29th, I was invited to attend Oak Creek High School’s leadership banquet which honors students who have taken on leadership roles at OCHS, including captains of sports teams, and presidents and executive boards of clubs and organizations. Former Packers running back Ahman Green was the featured speaker for the event attended by almost 300 students and their parents. Oak Creek Kiwanis Club was the sponsor of the event, held at the Oak Creek Community Center. Oak Creek High School Principal Paul Sigler and School Board members Paul Mason and Kathleen Borchardt were also there to congratulate the students.

As I’ve written in this space over the past few weeks, the nomination process for the 2012 Mayor’s Landscaping Awards has opened. From now until June 30th, residents can nominate neighbors and local businesses who do their part in making the City of Oak Creek beautiful. We’re looking for homes and places of business that improve the look of our city through plantings and unique landscaping. Here is a link to the nomination form.

With the school year about to wrap up, please make sure you take extra caution as you drive around the city. Let’s make this a safer, happier summer for all our residents.

See you around the OC,

Steve
