On June 6, 2017, the Common Council approved the City of Oak Creek’s 2017-2020 Strategic Action Plan.

In early 2016, a Strategic Planning Team was formed to lay the groundwork for a new Strategic Plan — a process last undertaken in 1989. The new plan would reflect the opportunities and challenges of today, in order to help the City remain competitive in the region, while providing the amenities and services our residents have come to expect.

The Novak Consulting Group was selected to oversee a collaborative process that gathered input from citizens, employees, elected officials, and other important stakeholders in a series of meetings and workshops held between September 2016 and February 2017. The result of this input was the development of a strategic plan framework consisting of a vision, mission and values, multiple critical success factors (the things we must do to achieve our vision), and a compilation of potential strategic initiatives.

At the conclusion of this process, the Strategic Planning Team and leadership staff clarified key initiatives and objectives during a series of meetings between February and April 2017. Facilitated by the City Administrator, staff organized priorities for each critical success factor, and developed action steps to achieve each of these important organizational goals. The resulting Strategic Action Plan identifies key tasks necessary to accomplish each initiative, and establishes an initiation timeline for each objective.
