City Responsibilities for Grass Cutting and Maintenance

As often occurs this time of year, the City of Oak Creek and its staff is struggling to keep up with its grass cutting and maintenance responsibilities in city parks, on school properties, and a variety of roadway median and terrace areas.

Sometimes wet weather conditions, coupled with a late May/early June return date for most of our summer help, makes it difficult for us to maintain all properties the way we would like to see them and the way the public expects maintenance to occur. City crews, which can vary from 4-6 individuals, maintain 239 acres of parks, schools, and municipal grounds as well as nearly 26 acres of roadway median and right of way. Equipment and manpower are particularly hard put during the early growing season. We are committed to high quality grass maintenance and will continue to work to catch up as the weather and our manpower permit.
